Miles to go on Archer Island…

There is a very special camp on Archer Island near Greenville that I love.  It belongs to my friends Merrill and Thomas, and for several years they have shared it with the National Association of Junior Auxiliaries for trainings, parties and fun times.  The girls always loved sitting out by the fire pit watching the river flow by, while Thomas cooked untold pounds of shrimp and beef on a grill for us high up on the porch of the cabin.  It’s more than a camp — it’s a very special place where families have hunted and gathered for years.  Today, that camp is under water.  I can’t help but think about the times I’ve enjoyed there and how generous Merrill and Thomas were with this special place.  It breaks my heart to see the pictures of it now.  There are no words to describe the heartbreak that families all along the Mississippi are feeling.  May God bless you, each and every one.
