This is an account of my life’s journey – road trips, places in my heart, people and things I love. I guess you want to know a little more about me if you landed on this page, so here are some things I’ve learned on this journey…
Give me a road trip any day. To anywhere, I don’t care. I love a road trip!
I love to read and am pretty obsessed with books! If I could do anything in the world, I would be a travel writer.
I’m on the board for the National Association of Junior Auxiliaries and love working with those awesome women who do so much good for kids in their hometowns. They inspire me and I count them among my very best friends. Even if I don’t see them every day.
I read too many magazines about cooking for someone who does not cook. Collect too many cookbooks for someone who has no skill in the area. I am absolutely addicted to beading and making earrings and love to mail them out to friends for them to enjoy.
I love crosses and dragonflies and McCarty pottery.
Shopping is my life! Especially in bookstores or for antiques.
I’m a true-crime junkie! I love Law and Order, CSI Miami, and anything on ID Discovery or Tru TV. I have been addicted to Intervention, but it seems I keep catching reruns lately since they changed nights. Yes, I need an Intervention for Intervention. Hoarders is an obsession of mine too, but it’s depressing…I’m afraid of becoming one in my old age. HGTV rules my life – I am constantly in search of the perfect arrangement of furniture and obsess about paint colors. What Not To Wear has changed my life and I am still searching for the perfect pair of black pants and the dress for my “reveal.” Thank God for Spanx.
I love the food in New Orleans and the shopping in Chicago. I love the art in Washington DC and everything about downtown Minneapolis. I love that I went to Europe with my girlfriends. I love a Brewers game in Miller Park. I love The Fresh Market in Little Rock, Arkansas, and their Creme Brulee coffee.
There is nothing in the world like a wood-burning fireplace and a pair of flannel pajamas on a snow day. Sugar cookies and hot chocolate are all I need to be happy!
I’m still learning all I can about my new home-state, Arkansas. Moving was the best thing I have done in a long time. The Ozarks are beautiful and the people are just as amazing. To canoe down the White River and think that this is home, makes me cry. I wish we had moved here ten years ago.
I love puppies and kittens and a phone call from a friend. I love Bud and our baby dogs, Buddy and Chico. I love my big dog Lady too much to be real.
I love books-to-movies like Cold Mountain, Pride and Prejudice, A Room With a View, The Kite Runner, Into the Wild, Atonement, Eat Pray Love, and The Namesake. Oddly enough, Pan’s Labyrinth is one of my favorite movies of all time. As for actors, I’m crazy for Hugh Grant movies – like Four Weddings and A Funeral. I’m also a big Owen Wilson fan – Me, You and Dupree and Wedding Crashers.
Most music appeals to me, but I love Folk, Soul, Acoustic, R&B and all the good old stuff my hubby played at Buddy’s. Tab Benoit and Marcia Ball are two of my favorites to hear live in New Orleans. I love Jack Johnson, Shelby Lynne, Sara Bareilles, Kathleen Edwards, Randy Crawford, Alberta Hunter and Dianna Krall too. My favorite music memories are from being backstage at the Greenwood Balloon Festival to hear some awesome musicians up close and personal – Phil Vassar, Jack Ingram, Pat Green, Jerry Jeff Walker and one of my favorite bands to see in person – Curb Service from Greenwood, Mississippi!
I’m an amateur blogger, but I want to try. I hope that something I say jogs a memory for you or sets you off on a journey of your own. At lunch with a friend recently, we talked about what our dream jobs would be and I said “Travel Writer”. I realized right at that moment that nothing is stopping me from being one. Blogging opens up new pages for writers to explore. So, I hope to write about travels I take or I’ve had and things I’ve learned along the way. Hope you enjoy — I’ve got miles to go before I sleep!
